Ryan Pierce is a dean at Freeport High School who works with kids who who’ve gotten in trouble or struggle behavior. He also supervises and guides students
But how do freshmen feel about their dean and how do upperclassmen feel about him? Also what are the responsibilities that come with being a dean?
“My primary responsibilities as a dean is supervision, helping students out when they need help when figuring out where to go, conflict they might be in, supporting teachers as they manage their classes to make sure it runs smoothly.”
“The first thing I try to do is help motivate them, to set their priorities right and to focus on school work and not much worrying about socializing,” Pierce said.
His typical day includes everyone calling his name all the time and doing his best to support staff and students.
“I like the opportunity to get to know different students.”
Many freshman said Pierce is good person to talk to and that they feel comfortable talking about anything with him.
“I thought he was cool on the first day of school until he gave me after school detention for the first time freshman year,” Sophomore Marcus Dixon-Plunkett said.
“Pierce is a really cool person and fun to be around,” Freshman Jordan Castle said. “I think he just like so supportive and always has a good mood and brings good energy to the crowd and always looks out for the students.”
“He got me out of a lot of sticky situations,” Freshman Girron Tensley said. “He’s my guy. I think Pierce is a good dean, he keeps the school organized and under control and he’s a good dean.”
“Pierce really kind individual and he cares about the students that go to this school,” Junior Denarius Epps said. “Our connection is strong but it feels off since freshman year it was always a good connection to bud with your peers and teacher too.”
“Pierce is a cool dean a nice guy,” Senior Kamaria Rhyne-Rucler said. “School-wise, he cares about everybody. You don’t even have to know him and when you go around him he’ll conversate with you. He’ll help you out with what you need. Overall, he’s a nice person. I like him.”
