Dozens of students gathered in the Jeanette Lloyd Theater hoping to get cast in their preferred roles for the first regional production of Frozen the Musical.
This year’s fall musical is Frozen. It was chosen by Director Tim Connors, Technical Director Robert Winter, and Assistant Director Sarah Buchmann.
“We got messages that Frozen was going to be open for widespread distribution in August and it was perfect timing. We really wanted a show that showed off a lot of our female talent and our growing male talent that we have. It fit the bill,” Winter said.
Freeport will be Frozen’s first regional production with both the cast and directors excited for how it will turn out.
“I got Elsa and I’m really happy with who I got,” Junior Madaline Seal said. “I really think it ties into characters I’ve gotten in the past and I feel like it’s every little girl’s dream to just be Elsa so I’m really excited.”
Since Freeport is making the first production of the musical, they will have to be in charge of their own costume designs, a unique aspect of this year’s musical.
“We are going to be hand making some of those more important costumes so that we can use them as rentals or sell them off to other schools who will be doing Frozen in the upcoming years,” Buchmann said.
Frozen: the Musical will premiere Nov. 20, 21, and 22 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 p.m.
