The football season is finally here, and the Freeport Pretzel football team is excited for the 2025 season.
They’re ready to work hard during practice and many hope to go after the state championship.
Senior Brayden Schweder said his main goal for this season is simple “to go farther than we did last year and possibly get to the state championship.”
Senior Brayson Witte is excited for the playoffs. “I’m looking forward to going back into the playoffs and going deeper than we did last year,” he said.
Practices have been intense, and the players are pushing each other to get better every day. Coaches are stressing teamwork, focus, and staying positive no matter what happens on the field.
After last year’s ups and downs, the players and coaches are more focused and ready to show what they can do.
Senior Ben Summers is focusing on improvement. “I’m looking forward to just building on last year, trying to do better than last year and just improve on the small things,” he said.
This year, the team has some returning players who know the game well and some new players who are ready to make an impact.
Junior Jaquariun Thurman-Whitted is coming back after missing two years due to an injury. “I got a lot to work on and got a dep chart to work up,” he said, showing he’s ready to put in the effort.
