The Freeport Pretzels Swim and Dive team won their first Pretzel Invite hosted in Freeport last Saturday with 214 points, beating seven other teams.
“We’ve been working hard at practices this season, and it showed at this meet,” Team Captains Camrynn Gorham and Victoria Buchla said.
Freeport not only won, but also had many season-best times with standout events of the 100 Butterfly, seeing Freeport win by .2 seconds, and the Varsity 200 medley relay.
This meet sets the team up early for a good season, according to swimmers.
“The girls swam well and I’m looking forward to what the team can do this year,” Assistant Coach Mike Regan said. This start to the season only prepares the team for better performance in future meets, he said.
With this win under the Lady Pretz’s belt, the girls are hopeful for the rest of the swim season.
