The Freeport Pretzel Girls Flag Football Team celebrated their seniors, Najeyah Wallace, Ta’Niah McElroy, Olivia Turner, and Ta’Leiah McElroy, during Senior Night on Sept. 30.
Wallace is one of the hardest working players, according to her teammates. She put in so much effort during the season and showed her dedication to the sport. Walking down the football field with her mother and brother, she had her whole team in tears.
According to her coaches, she became a great snapper and corner rusher, with her three years of experience of the sport. She made a strong impact on her team and others around her, according to her teammates.
One of our newest but sweetest seniors, Olivia Turner, joined the season late but that didn’t stop her from becoming a part of their family, according to teammates.
She was a defensive edge rusher who continuously took the quarterback down. She had her mom and sibling walking her down. Even if she joined later than intended, she made a huge break in progress and grew to be a strong player, according to her teammates.
According to many teammates and coaches, Ta’Leiah and Ta’Niah McElroy are some of the fastest people they have ever seen. One playing offense and the other on defense, they became an asset to the team. The twins not only ran fast, but also helped with pulling flags and being great receivers.
Their team will miss how they always made them team laugh. Both were able to walk down together with their mom. They continued to be the greatest and strongest players on and off the field.
“Senior night was filled with nostalgia, joy, and sadness,” according to our senior, Nejeyah Wallace.
Coming to the end of Senior Night, it left everyone in tears, but not tears of sadness. The seniors will be forever thought of and cared for.
