The Freeport High School Media Production Pathway received $1,500 from the Illinois Press Foundation and the Illinois Farm Bureau for SnoSites training and Journalism Education Association student conference fees.
“It’s a honor to receive this funding which will allow our students to go to their first national journalism conference for a discounted price,” Jena Kleindl, Video Production teacher, said.
They granted this money also to 25 other high schools. It pays for equipment, newspaper printing costs, website hosting fees and more. This is the 5th year that the Illinois Farm Bureau has supported scholastic journalism in this way.
“We’re grateful to continue to have Illinois Farm Bureau as a financial partner in this valuable program again this year,” Jeff Rogers, Executive Director of the Illinois Press Foundation, said.
