Freeport upsets Harlem 22-14 on October 24 at Harlem High School.
The Freeport team knew that the Harlem game was gonna be a big game because of it being Homecoming and the Pretzels having to win to make the playoffs for the first time in over 15 years.
“The offensive gameplan was to mix up the run and pass to just get into the endzone,” Payton Woker, varsity quarterback, said.
The game plan seemed to work with the Pretzels winning 22-14.
The other key factor of the game was it was Harlem’s homecoming game. Zac Matz said he felt disrespected that the Freeport game was scheduled as their homecoming game.
“When you schedule a homecoming game you look to see who you have a good chance of beating,” Matz, tight-end, said.
The Pretzel will face off against Rockford East at East High School on Friday, October 25.
