At Freeport High School, there are some high-achieving students who are not only in the top five percent of their class, but also participate in many activities outside of their academics. These outstanding students want to share the scoop to their success.
Paityn London
Sophomore, Paityn, is new to Freeport High School and has transferred from Aquin Catholic High School. Her academics have skyrocketed to become a part of the top five percent of her class.
“I continue to push myself through adversity and have a positive and uplifting mindset in every situation I step into!” Paityn London, a Sophomore, said.
Not only is Paityn achieving high academics during school, but she also has multiple offers from Division I schools for Girls’ Basketball. She is excited to start the season with a new team and new teammates. She hopes for an amazing year here at Freeport High School.
Henry Winter
Junior, Henry Winter, is another bright student at Freeport High School who is in the top five percent of his class. He excels in each subject. As a junior, Henry already takes some senior-level classes, although his favorite subject is science. He is on track to take college classes as a senior.
“It helps to plan out my week ahead of time so I know when I need to get Homework done. When I do my work, I block out most distractions so I can get it done quicker.” Henry Winter, a junior, said.
Henry is part of the Boys Varsity Baseball team, he is also the captain for the Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving. Henry is a model of what it means to be a student-athlete.
Mya Ortiz
Senior, Mya Ortiz, is another student in the top five percent of her class who is involved in many activities at school. Mya is a student who excels in her AP classes. She has good grades which earned her a 4.0 GPA. After four years of high school, she always strived to be the best she could be.
“I didn’t want to go through high school and have nothing to show for it, I wanted to be able to receive my diploma and see all of the hard work and effort and be proud. ” Mya Ortiz, a senior, said.
Mya is a member of multiple activities here at Freeport High School. She’s the President of Thespians, a member of Key Club, President of the National Honor Society, a senior drum major in the marching band, and captain of the speech team.
With that being said, Mya shows the value of time management, by being in more than five activities during and after school at FHS.
Mya is a student who is really going to be missed when she graduates this Spring, according to her teachers. She is going to leave a huge impact here at Freeport High School. Staff and students can’t wait to see what her future is going to look like!
