The Freeport NJROTC Rifle Team, went to Columbia, Missouri for the Area 15 Rifle Championships on Friday October 31st, 2025 and shot on November 1st 2025. The A Team took 3rd Place overall.
The team was on relay three, with 3 other schools and began to shoot at 12pm. Everyone shot in the finals, and Commanding Officer, Teighan Muder, was the top shooter with an overall of 541 out of 600 points.
Muder said, “I think I did really well, but I can do better.”
Senior Chief Jeff Bartledt said ‘’I’m amazed that we beat Zion Benton’s 3rd Team at the award ceremony. The A Team was 18 points away from 2nd place and so close to beating 2 ZB Teams instead of one.”
The A and B team shooters as well as the instructors are shooting for a spot at Navy Nationals.
Now the team waits for the Gary Anderson Invitational, in Camp Perry, Ohio.
