Freeport High School students could see higher ACT scores in the next few weeks after receiving a mass email from College Board.
Rosemarie Brubaker, the Curriculum and Instruction Assistant Principal, received this email from ACT stating that the scores students may have already seen from their MyACT accounts could be incorrect.
“I was annoyed,” said Brubaker “I like to dig into data right away so when I was getting ready to start filling in spreadsheets and what not, that’s when the email came through, so we had to put all of that on hold.”
Students who took the ACT online during the school day this spring have currently lost access to their scores and will not be able to view them until June 2nd at the latest.
The email announced the following:
- Composite scores and section scores will remain the same or increase slightly based on your individual performance. Your scores will NOT be lower than what was previously released.
- ACT will post revised scores to you and your parent or guardian via MyACT (if you have an account) and to your school and/or district and any college or scholarship agency you chose as a recipient of your scores.
- If you sent scores to colleges or scholarship agencies outside of the ACT score distribution process, you will need to resend those after you have received your revised scores.
“I feel glad that my score could be boosted,” said junior Adasyn Rice, “My previous score was not as good as I would have liked it to be, so knowing that there is a second chance makes me hopeful.”
ACT shares that they are reviewing the scores to ensure fairness and accuracy among all students who tested.
“Its crazy that we are even in this predicament, because the ACT is a huge testing company, but I am excited because I know a lot of students who were unhappy with their scores, so a few bonus points could boost their confidence,” said Haley Kurtz, a junior English teacher at FHS.
According to Brubaker, students who have already created a MyACT account will receive an email notifying them that there new score is in.
