The boys’ volleyball is one of Freeport High School’s newest sports team. This is their second season playing, but their first season playing with a full 11-person varsity team.
“ I am hopeful for this team’s future,” senior Brayden William-Morris said. “We are still new, and every year we are getting better. As time moves on and our team becomes more known, I know with no doubt in my mind that we will keep improving.”
The team, as Morris Williams said, has seen improvement in their players’ individual skills and have been competing better in matches, according to senior Samuel Viveros said.
“While our record doesn’t reflect it, our set-by-set scores have significantly improved from last year, and we are playing way better than last year overall,” Viveros said.
The team, although new, has pushed forward and tried their hardest.
“We face a lot of hardships being a new team as compared to the bigger dynasties in the NIC-10; they have way more players and feeder programs to improve the quality of their players,” said Viveros.
The Pretzels will play their final home game on Monday, May 18 in the main gym. The four seniors will all be recognized before the varsity game begins.
