At Freeport High School, college representatives are visiting campus to help students from all grade levels prepare for their future.
As the host Thedford Jackson said “They can come and learn and talk to the actual representative and ask questions about scholarships, about their campus life, get a lot of their questions answered before they go visit.”
The visits involve sophomores, juniors, and seniors, along with the college representatives from schools like Rockford University, Western Illionis University, and possibly Luther College.
“Sophomores can begin thinking about their future options early, Juniors can start having serious conversations and preparing for application, while seniors can confirm their choices or explore other options if they are still undecided,” Jackson said.
These visits are happening during the spring semester.
Important deadlines are also approaching many scholarships are due in late March or April 1st, and college have their own financial aid deadlines that students must meet.
Overall these visits are to prepare for their futures, and give students direct access to important information about colleges, scholarships, and campus life, according to Jackson.
Junior Angela Meighan described the college visits as “educational and inspirational for aspiring prospective students.”
