A new Healthcare Club has started at Freeport High School.
The club helps “to get people more interested in things in things healthcare related, help them kind of get to learn some new skills and maybe some career opportunities,” Healthcare Club Advisor Michelle Perkins said.
This year, the Healthcare Club is taking on major responsibility by running two school blood drives.
The strongest feature of the club is its openness since there are no requirements to join.
Looking ahead the club is aiming for long-term stability the leader shared that the goal for this year is to get us more organized into a really good regimen, according to Perkins.
Most members will come from HEAL academy, but anyone is welcome to join.”If somebody else wants to check it out, I’m totally fine with that,” Perkins said. The only expectation for members, she said, was to be a good human being.
