Thanks to Madison Coplien, the Freeport High School Class of 2026 joined the tradition of senior assassin, with many fun and exciting twists.
“Senior Assassin is a game where you are given a target, like an assassin, and have to take them out by shooting them with a water gun, when they are not wearing goggles, giving them immunity” said Coplien. “Everyone pays $5 to buy in, and the winner/last person standing gets to claim the pot.”
One unique rule that was in effect this year is that participants are able to buy back in after being eliminated.
“People who got out early wanted another chance, and it would add more to the pot, so we decided to add it in.”
This rule was one that many seniors took advantage of and appreciated, depending on how quickly they got out in the game.
“You only get one senior assassin” says Steven Van, who bought back in twice.
The senior explains that you only get this opportunity once, so it is important to make the most of it.
Ta’Leiah Mcelroy was the winner of this years game, where she worked hard to eliminate 9 people, finishing with her sister Ta’Niah, to win the pool of $200!
Many students decided not to participate in this years senior assassin “I decided not to play this year because I had a lot going on already with athletics, and didn’t want another thing on my plate” said Quinn Krezminski
This seemed to be a common idea among those who didn’t participate, with many others also not wanting their location to be public.
Overall, those who participated seemed to really enjoy this new tradition, and our seniors encourage the next class to continue this tradition.
