Select students in the Media Production Pathway will go on a field trip to Minneapolis in April to learn more about journalism at a national conference.
“The field trip is happening because Kleindl and I thought it would be a good idea to take students who seem to have an interest in journalism, especially students who are in the pathway, to take them on a field trip to gain more skills,” Digital Production teacher Haley Kurtz said.
The trip is from April 16 to the 18 with Video Production Teacher Jena Kleindl, Kurtz and Agriculture Teacher Benjamin Skipor. They’re taking nine selected students from Video Production and Digital Production to join them on this field trip.
“It’s important for students to go so that they realize or don’t realize how much journalism means to them,” Video Production student Steven Van said. “For me, I know journalism has impacted me quite a lot throughout high school, and I’m excited to go here and really see what I still need to know about journalism and video production.”
“I think it gives them lifelong skills of getting to network with people who are maybe not from their school or where they’re from,” Kleindl said. “I also think that if students wanted to get into communication things in the future, it would give them a lot more resources and research about that path.”
