On Saturday February 14, 2026, the boys and girls wrestling teams competed at sectionals. The boys team competed at Geneseo High School, and the girls team competed at Dekalb High School. From Sectionals Freeport Qualified four athletes, Treyden Diduch, Thomas Olson, NaJeyah Wallace, and Kareem Odeh.
Treyden Diduch will be competing at a weight class of 106, Thomas Olson will compete at 138, and NaJeyah Wallace at a weight class of 155. Alternate Kareem Odeh will also be going, and has the chance to compete at a weight class of 285.
Diduch was the boys Sectional Champion for his weight class going 3-0. “It feels great to win this year, and I’m excited for state. I hope to do my best, and I have a good shot to win this year.”
He is ranked number one in the state, with a record of 39-2 for the year.
Olson placed 4th at Sectionals with a record of 3-2. O
lson says, “I’m feeling a little nervous because it’s a new experience, but mostly excited. I just hope to gain experience at a higher competitive level, and maybe place.”
The boys are competing this weekend at University of Illinois in Champaign.
Wallace says “I have been working hard and surrounding myself with support from friends and family, just hoping to do my best next weekend.”
The girls will be competing at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington on February 27th and 28th.
