The Freeport High School Junior Class and Miss Patterson worked hand in hand to put together a fun-filled Prom Assembly to get all the juniors and seniors ready for the big night on Saturday.
Last Wednesday, five girls and five boys from the junior and senior classes were nominated by their classmates to represent their respective classes all week as a part of Prom Royalty.
For the junior class, those included: Isaiah Baker, Jaxon Blunt, Ja’Merranique Dixson, Carl Duede, Chyanna Gadson, Tatianna Mitchell, Brody Stewart, Reagan Stodden, Maleia Tucker, and Austin Veer.
For the senior class, those included: Grace Beggin, Quierra Brooks, Samantha Coleman, Camrynn Gorham, Christopher Kirkwood, Jonathan Marin, Shawn McKillip, Andrew Seward, Brooklynn Shorter, and Samuel Viveros.
At the beginning of the assembly, all of these students were announced in front of the whole school. Everyone was given a shash, and along with that, the girls were given a small bouquet. From there, the Prince and Princess, and King and Queen were announced after being voted on earlier in the week.
The Prince and Princess were Austin Veer and Reagan Stodden, and the King and Queen were Jonathan Marin and Camrynn Gorham. They were each given their respective crown and tiara, along with another bouquet for the girls.
“I feel really proud, and like I am a bigger part of this school,” said Veer, “I want to make a major impact on the school, which is why I feel like I deserve this.”
After all of the royalty was announced, the Folklore Ballet performed one of their dances for the school.
Then there was the Student vs. Staff Dodgeball Game… It included eight students and eight staff members. It was a hard-fought battle, and after many, many jailbreaks, the staff ultimately came out on top.
